Farmhouse continues........mom, farmhouse updates, and views.
So the farmhouse is coming along nicely! Just as we dreamed it would be......but every time we drive over to see the progress, the work always exceeds our expectations. We will be moved in by this November 2022. I just can't wait to move in. While we were driving the other day over to the farmhouse I was thinking about how much I have learned about myself and what changes have been made to my family's lives. The house we lived in for 12 years and sold to get our farmhouse built, had a small kitchen. My mom lives with us since her divorce. She does work the night shift and I would not let mom cook a meal or help me clean the kitchen. I have not had a kitchen in almost two years. I have not been able to cook what I want in over two years. I have reflected on why I did not let mom cook. I was simply being a kitchen hog! When you reflect on your self make sure you are mud slinging truthful! Is there even such a thing or even a word.....kitchen hog?! The selfishness of me was what I realized about myself. I wanted to be the one cooking all the time. She would ask me to let her cook and I would always come up with some kind of excuse as to why she should not cook. Since I have not been able to cook and just stand by and offer to help in someone else's kitchen has taught me a humbling lesson.....share your kitchen. Let someone else take the strings for a while. Even if you don't like the food...pretend to like it! Take a break from cooking. From here on out I will let mom cook and I will go and bake a cake! I did let mom know a couple of weeks ago that once we are all moved in the house she will be cooking some days (if she wants too and if she is not tired) and she will be making homemade tortillas. Ya, I didn't even let her make homemade tortillas....ya I was dumb! BUT! now mom will be in the kitchen from now on!!!!!!
Ok! Back to the floor update......We picked light colored floors. These floors are so beautiful. The only way to explain these floors are as if we laid down wood planks. The floor color goes very well with all the black.
I want to talk about my mom for a minute. I am so thankful for my mom. When I was in my younger years and teenage years I was never close to mom. I was a straight up daddy's girl. My mom would come into my room and I would get upset because I always felt like she was intruding on my space. She would tell me in my teen years she never understood me. The day I got married to my husband, I began to understand the role of being a wife, I began to understand my mom more. I had an epiphany! I was so wrong about mom. Boy, did I misunderstand my mom! My mom raised four children and after dad left us for another family, my mom became dad and mom for all four of us! My husband and I designed her room in our home just for her. She has a whole suite! We felt like after all she has been thru she deserved her own suite! Mom, your the best and your so strong! You really deserve all that you have coming to you!
Here is some pictures of mom's suite......
This is mom's personal bathroom. The tile in the bathroom is in all the bathrooms.
So! The latest update on the farmhouse is we have the flooring installed in the whole house and other updates.
This is the delivery of the flooring. My husband and I decided we did not want tile at all....no where in the house. For the floor we choose, our builder only uses Life Proof.
I wanted to show the baking kitchen. There are brackets installed for the granite that will be on top. This is a bar. We had to put a bar here to be able to enjoy the view outside. I can see me now! The house is all quiet and enjoying a cup of coffee with the hubby while everyone else is asleep.
The farm sink has been installed! I will have a dishwasher so the farm sink will be used just for minor things.....she is a beauty.

I wanted to show some of the views we caught at the farmhouse....
I love the views from the farmhouse! This is what waits for us! There is ALWAYS a view at sunset. I have mentioned before how I love sunsets. I have loved watching the sun go down since I was five years old. The views from the sky here is so wonderful. Right now I live with my mother in law and the sky is covered by trees. My mother in law lives in the city. I prefer the dirt roads any day than the paved roads. I can't wait for the day to wave at my neighbors from afar off instead of just right next door. I don't mind yelling from afar off "hello!" to my neighbors. I want open skies, the wind blowing and picking up the dirt to get in my eyes, seeing the rabbits running across the dirt road....heck I'll take the stray cat running into the woods!
Ya, I caught a rainbow at the farmhouse! There are no words for the views here! I can't wait to be home soon! Its been a battlefield but oh! its been worth it all. Nothing ever comes easy. Every time we are at the farmhouse and my husband says its time to go, I always say to him," I don't want to go! I want to stay home!" Right now nowhere feels like home. There is no rest like being able to rest at home. Honestly, I have been living in survival mode and I am just plain ole tired. I can only explain it this way.....I feel like a plant that has been dug up and put in a potted pot and has been carried around and watered just enough to be kept alive. This pot life is getting claustrophobic and this plant is ready to be planted at home in the ground and getting rooted in!
Thanks for spending time with me! God bless and keep your family safe! Till next time!
